On January 29, 2001, the City of Toronto created the Waste Diversion Task Force 2010. The Task Force, which is co-chaired by Mayor Mel Lastman and Councillor Betty Disero, was asked to consult with the people of Toronto and come up with a comprehensive waste diversion plan by June 2001.
